Privacy Policy
How we handle the information that keeps an event organized, a score trustworthy, and a player’s contact details private.
Skipper Bob is operated by Buell, EA, LLC (“Skipper Bob,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit skipper-bob.com, register for or participate in an event, use a private player link, or interact with an event operator.
If you do not agree with this policy, do not submit a registration. You may contact us before registering if you have a question about how your information will be handled.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
When you register for an event or join a waitlist, we collect:
- your first and last name;
- a display name derived from your name;
- your email address and mobile phone number;
- your choice about receiving optional event updates; and
- any information you voluntarily provide to an event operator, including information included in an administrative note or privacy request.
Skipper Bob does not collect payment-card numbers through the website. Unless an event page expressly states otherwise, registration fees are paid in person.
Event participation information
As an event is operated, we may create and maintain records such as:
- registration, waitlist, cancellation, seating, payment, and check-in status;
- player numbers, private access tokens, opaque scan codes, and printed player-pass identities;
- table assignments, partners, opponents, scores, wins and losses, loners, rankings, tie-break decisions, disputes, corrections, and final results;
- raffle purchases and draws, including buyer name, ticket count, and amount paid;
- event communications, operator notes, and an operator-attributed activity history; and
- timestamps and other records needed to reconcile the event and investigate scoring or operational questions.
Private score-sheet evidence
An authorized operator may photograph a paper score sheet or score card to resolve handwriting, damaged paper, or a scoring question. These images may contain a player name, player code, barcode, handwriting, or score. They are stored privately, are available only through authenticated operator tools, and are never automatically posted as a score or added to the public media library.
We do not currently send these images to an external handwriting-recognition or artificial-intelligence provider. We will update this policy and provide appropriate notice before introducing that processing.
Public event media
An organizer may publish event photographs, sponsor or charity artwork, announcements, galleries, or event stories. Published material is visible to website visitors. Private score-sheet evidence is kept separate from public event media. Contact us if you have a concern about an identifiable event photograph or story.
Website and device information
Our servers may receive technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as an IP address, browser type, device type, requested page, date and time, referrer, and security or error-log information.
We use Google Analytics 4 on public website pages to understand traffic and improve the public event experience. Google Analytics may collect session statistics, approximate location, browser and device information, page activity, and a pseudonymous client identifier stored in a first-party _ga cookie. We do not intentionally send registration-form contents, participant contact details, private access tokens, or private scoring information to Google Analytics. Google Analytics is not loaded on operator pages, tokenized player pages, or venue-display pages.
The site also uses cookies necessary for security, form submission, and session operation. You may limit or delete cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may prevent registration or sign-in from working correctly.
Operator information
If you are an event operator, we collect your name, email address, password hash, role, session information, and an activity history of actions taken in the system. Operator activity is retained to protect event integrity and accountability.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- accept and manage registrations and waitlists;
- assign seats, players, tables, partners, and opponents;
- operate scoring, standings, raffles, event displays, and closeout;
- send registration confirmations and private player links;
- send optional event updates when a participant has requested them;
- respond to questions, correction requests, disputes, safety concerns, and privacy requests;
- protect accounts, investigate misuse, maintain audit records, and secure the website;
- measure and improve public website performance using aggregated analytics; and
- satisfy legal, accounting, tax, insurance, or recordkeeping obligations.
We will not use the event-updates selection as permission for unrelated advertising or sell participant contact information.
3. Registration and event messages
We may send a registration or waitlist confirmation and other messages necessary to provide the event service. These messages may include a private player or status link.
The optional event-updates selection covers communications such as schedule changes, seat or waitlist updates, pairings, and calls to the scorekeeper. It does not enroll you in unrelated marketing. You may withdraw from optional updates by contacting us. Withdrawing from optional updates does not cancel your registration, and we may still send a message that is necessary to administer your registration or respond to your request.
4. Information visible to other people
Participant email addresses, phone numbers, private access tokens, administrative notes, and private score-sheet images are not displayed on public boards or public result pages.
To operate and celebrate an event, the following information may be visible to other participants, spectators, venue attendees, or public website visitors:
- display name and player code;
- check-in or playing status when operationally necessary;
- table number, partner, and opponents;
- round and total scores, loners, wins and losses, ranking, and final result; and
- awards, tie-break outcomes, and event photographs or stories selected for publication.
Public event results may remain in the completed-event archive. You may ask us to correct an error or replace your public display name with an anonymous label. We may preserve de-identified event totals and the integrity of final standings.
5. When we disclose information
We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary to:
- authorized administrators, scorekeepers, door operators, and other event personnel;
- hosting, email-delivery, analytics, backup, security, and technical service providers that process information for us;
- professional advisers, insurers, accountants, or attorneys when reasonably necessary;
- comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
- protect a person, the event, Skipper Bob, or the rights and security of others; or
- complete a reorganization, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate protection of the information.
Current service providers include Hostinger for website hosting and email delivery and Google Analytics for measurement of public website usage. Their handling of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
We do not sell participant personal information. We do not provide participant contact details to sponsors or charities for their independent marketing without permission.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain information according to its purpose and sensitivity:

When a retention period expires, we delete, de-identify, or restrict the information unless continued retention is reasonably necessary for an unresolved request, dispute, security investigation, legal hold, or recordkeeping obligation. Deletion of contact information does not require deletion of de-identified event totals or valid historical accounting records.
Third-party providers may retain their own operational, security, or delivery records according to their policies and legal obligations.
7. Your choices and privacy requests
You may ask us to:
- provide information about the personal information we maintain about you;
- correct inaccurate contact or event information;
- stop optional event messages;
- deactivate a private player link;
- remove or anonymize your name from public event history where appropriate; or
- delete personal information that we are not required or reasonably entitled to retain.
Send requests to info@skipper-bob.com with the subject Privacy Request. Do not include your private player link, password, or unnecessary sensitive information in the email. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We generally respond within 30 days, although a complex request or legal obligation may require additional time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. We will not discriminate against you for making a good-faith privacy request.
You may also use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we maintain. These include HTTPS, secure cookies, role-based operator access, organization-scoped records, opaque participant and barcode identities, non-public storage for scoring evidence, authenticated access to private images, and an operator-attributed activity history.
No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. If you believe your private player link, account, or personal information has been compromised, contact us promptly at info@skipper-bob.com.
9. Children’s privacy
The public website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect online personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate parent or guardian involvement. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate. Individual events may establish additional age or venue-entry requirements.
10. Other websites and services
Skipper Bob pages may link to a venue, sponsor, charity, mapping service, social network, or other third-party website. We do not control those services or their privacy practices. Review the privacy policy of a third-party service before providing information to it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our events, service providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted on skipper-bob.com with its effective date. If a change materially affects how existing participant information is used, we will provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate.
